It's time to rework the boundaries that outline the City Council districts in Columbia, thanks to uneven population growth across Columbia over the past 10 years. Panelists -- along with several members of the audience -- discuss the options that have been proposed and the implications of the different scenarios.

One of the problems with the existing ward arrangements is that white liberal council candidates tend to overwhelm low income inner city candidates. This is what overwhelmed Ameda Creighton. Plan B would seem fairer as it adds to Ward 1 from Ward 2 since this would match people with similar problems and socio-economic status. Either plan makes ward 1 more racially mixed but plan B seems like it would preserve at least one council member who might represent low-income people wroking-class people better.
